From Poirot's Suitcase to an Apartment Poltergeist
Plus a new true crime section
I’m excited to announce I’m starting a reading club next month and invite you to join! The book we’ll read together is Murder at the Mill by M. B. Shaw. We’ll read one or two chapters and discuss what we’ve read at the end of each day. I’ll post a more specific schedule for our readings next week. Can’t wait to talk to you guys about the book!
And now, the links…

TRUE CRIME CORNER
Over at Crimereads, Janet Beard offers an insightful look at murder ballads.

Alice Nuttall contemplates the ethics of true crime on Book Riot.
Moving on to Something Is Going To Happen, Kevin Mims takes a deep dive into Netflix’s The Perfect Couple and laments the way television shows gloss over the true and hard work of being a real detective. Note: this article contains spoilers for the show.
COZY CORNER
The Jungle Red Writers share 5 things they can do that others can’t. They also confess 5 things they’re not good at.
Meanwhile, the Chicks On The Case writers reveal the books they sneak read when they were growing up. Fun fact, my mom’s (attempted) sneak read was Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levine. She was a young teen when it was published and tried to check it out of the local library. It was a small town and the librarian called my Gran for permission to lend it to her. Gran nixed that in the bud and mom still hasn’t read the book.
Finally, also at Chicks On The Case, Lisa Q. Mathews spins the tale of the apartment she once shared with a poltergeist because the rent amount was too good to give up.
That’s it for today! It feels good to be back at the keyboard after such a long hiatus. I’ll be back in your inbox next week with the details on the reading club. Until then, keep reading!
